Km’s walked today: 7,5kms
Woke up at 4h00 wondering if Warwick got to the start of Comrades ok, and then couldn’t go back to sleep. Today the weather was really weird, a bit like Cape Town, cold, rainy, sunny, misty, warm, all in a matter of a few hours.
Although I am pleased I decided a few months ago to take an extra day in St Jean, the waiting is now getting to me. I need to start as I am making myself crazy with anticipation.
Uneventful day in a beautiful little town. Gate crashed a First holy communion service today. This one I planned. I saw a notice that said there was a procession so I decided to stick around, I ended up being an observer for an hour. The luxury of time and the things we can do with it.Walked up to the Citadelle on the hill, and watched people most of the day. I do so love traveling, what a privilege it is.
It is Mother’s Day in France today so every restaurant was packed. A Camino gift presented itself when the waiter I asked for a table at restaurant no 4, “created” a table, “Just for you” he said, albeit practically on the traffic circle. He didn’t have to as it was really busy but he found a table and made it happen. The Trout I ordered was delicious, but I am sure it’s illegal to catch such small fish (not what I expected).
For the cynics, you may want to stop reading now….. ! So I am unwinding slowly but surely and I find myself simply just sitting and reflecting as opposed to needing to draw, read, text…., this I guess is the start of a process of getting to know oneself all over again. A Camino gift.

Often when we travel I find a cafe or hotel or something for sale and before I know it I’m practically living in the place and running it. Today I found a beautiful little hotel for sale in the heart of St Jean, mmmmmm…….!

Received a beautiful quote from a friend earlier that I think will be my quote for the day or maybe the week as I embark on my BIG WALK …. “Courage is like a muscle strengthened by its use”! Time to sleep and prepare in my dreams.
Some lovely photos, Fanny! Good job! I know I’m going to enjoy reading about your adventures! An hour or so till your “official start”? BRING IT ON!
